V. A. Shrikumar Menon Biography

V. A. Shrikumar Menon is an ace ad-film maker and film director associated with Malayalam cinema. A doyen in the field of ad world, he has already worked with almost all leading brands of the country and has directed more than 400 ad films for various brands. He currently serves as the Chairman and Managing Director of Push Integrated Communications, dedicated to branding, advertisement, corporate events and related objectives. In 2018 he marked his directorial debut with Mohanlal starrer fantasy film, Odiyan, which became a huge commercial hit despite getting mixed reviews. Odiyan is one of the most expensive films of Mollywood made on a lavish budget.

V. A. Shrikumar Menon was born in 1964 at Puthur, Palakkad in Kerala. He graduated and also completed his master’s from Bath Spa University. He specialized in Advertising Practice for his PG studies. Later he married his junior at college, Sharmila and has one daughter born in 1995. He started his professional career in ad world soon after his return to India in 1993. He started an advertising agency, Colours of the World. But before completing first year, he ran into legal trouble costing him crores of money as debt and it took 13 years for him to get out of the debut.

His meeting with Ramesh Kalyanaraman, executive director, Kalyan Jewellers turned to be a turning point of his life. With the support of T.S. Kalyanaraman, Ramesh’s father he returned back to ad world. In fact when Kalyan brand branched across the globe, ad films made by Shrikumar played an important role. Currently he is one of the most sought ad-film makers of the country.

Though there were rumours that he is in relationship with top Malayalam actress Manju Warrier, he reiterates that they share a professional relationship only. Manju made her return to camera through an ad directed by Shrikumar and also played the female lead in his debut flick, Odiyan in 2018.
