Ushasie Chakraborty Biography

Ushasie Chakraborty is a Bengali actress best known for the portrayal of the character Satyabati in Anjan Dutt's film adaptations on detective series - Byomkesh Bakshi. She has also portrayed character roles in Bengali movies like Ranjana Ami Ar Ashbona, Bedroom etc. She is the daughter of noted communist leader of West Bengal, Shyamal Chakraborty. She has also campaigned for 2011 assembly elections for West Bengal. Bedroom and Mrs. Sen are her most noticed recent releases in Bengali cinema. Ranjana Ami Ar Ashbona and Ashchorjyo Prodeep are a few more noted movies. She also owns a few television series in her credit. She played the role of Dr. Swati in television series - Ekhane Akash Neel during 2008-2009. She has also appeared in a documentary film - Taar Cheye Se Anek Aaro.

 

She was born and brought up in Kolkata. She was born to the prominent communist leader - Shyamal Chakraborty. Though she has participated in the election campaigns of the party, she believes that her father’s political identity is her disadvantage. She also believes that the party needs some change like increasing the number of female leaders and more focus on class politics. She is also in education profession. Yet she balances her commitments between two careers. She often stands out in the crowd because of her unconventional dressing sense and she believes herself to be an unconventional person.

 

She played the role of Satyabati, Bomkesh’s middle-class wife in the popular film series of Anjan Dutt. The director wanted a fresh, traditional Bengali and talented girl for the portrayal of Satyabati and that’s how Ushasie received the magic role. She has also appeared in a few television series of Bengali language.
