Tini Tom Biography

Tini Tom is a comedy actor of Malayalam, known for supporting roles as well. After a long struggling period in Mollywood with less significant roles, he was noticed for the first time doing a bit role in Mammootty’s movie, Pranchiyettan & the Saint (2010) in which he portrayed the role of a driver. His dialogue delivery in Thrissur style earned him appreciation as well as big break to the industry. Very soon, he was offered the supporting role in ‘Indian Rupee’, and the movie too was directed by Ranjith who gave him the bit role in Pranchiyettan & the Saint. ‘Indian rupee’ (2011) proved to be the turning point of his career and after that there was no turning back. Now he is one of the most successful comedians of Malayalam. He is a noted mimicry artist too and has anchored many hit comic shows in Malayalam television.

His real name is Devassy. He has been associated with many mimicry troupes in the first phase of his career. He has been a part of Seven Arts and Cochin Guinness, performing programs state-wide. Along with Guinness Pakru, he anchored a show, Tom and Jerry in television which proved to be a major success. Yet he struggled to get good roles in movies and his struggle lasted to about 10 years though he has a good career as a television anchor and mimicry artist. Panchapandavar, released in 1998 was his first movie. He was first noticed through Pattalam in 2003, though it didn’t provide him good roles later. In 2008, he played body double of Mammootty for Annan Thambi, where he played the role of twin brothers.

It was Mammootty who suggested his name to Renjith for the movie, Pranchiyettan & the Saint. His role of a driver telling rumours about people was well noticed and very soon, Renjith casted him as sidekick of Prithviraj in ‘Indian Rupee’. Same year, he played villain’s role in commercial hit – Beautiful. He played lead role in 2013 movie – Houseful. Spirit, Friday, 5 Sundarikal and Kadal Kadannoru Mathukkutty are other noted roles.
