Tarun Gopi Biography

Tarun Gopi is a film maker, director, actor and screenwriter of Tamil cinema. His debut film as a director was Thimiru, released in 2006 which was one among the highest grossers of the year. The movie starred Vishal, Reema Sen, Shriya Reddy and Kiran Rathod in lead roles. The movie dubbed into Telugu, releasing as Pogaru was a runaway hit at box office too. Later he directed one more movie titled, Kaalai, released in 2008 starring Silambarasan, Vedhika, Nila and Sangeetha in lead roles. He debut as an actor in the movie, Mayandi Kudumbathar released in 2009 for which he was nominated for best actor at Vijay film awards.

Tarun Gopi was born in the city of Gudalur, Teni in Tamil Nadu. He was brought up in Madurai where he did his schooling at Government Higher Secondary School and studied Bachelor of Accounting in Madurai Kamaraj University. He currently resides at Maduravoyal, Chennai with him wife and 4 kids. He entered film industry as an assistant director and worked under directors of south Indian cinema - Sakthi Chidambaram, Upendra, Manoj Kumar, Geetha Krishna and Senthil Nathan. He debut as director with the super hit movie, Thimiru in 2006. He rendered his voice and wrote lyrics for his second directorial venture, Kaalai. Now he is working on the script of Soodhattam and this movie is get released under his own home banner - "Thimiru Production", named after his successful debut movie.

As a film actor, he debut with Mayandi Kudumbathar where he played one among the kids of Mayandi, played by veteran actor of Tamil movies, Manivannan. Pechiyakka Marumagan, Saravanakudil, Kanniyum Kaalaiyum Sema Kadhal and Soodhattam are his upcoming movies as an actor.
