T. L. V. Prasad Biography

T. L. V. Prasad is a noted filmmaker associated with Bollywood and Telugu cinema. He is the son of veteran filmmaker Tatineni Prakash Rao known for his contributions to Bollywood and south Indian cinema in the 1950s -1990s. Prasad entered into Limca Book of World Records for his ability in churning out movies continuously. His family has entered third generation of filmmaking, and his son Tatineni Satya is also a successful film director associated with Telugu cinema. As a Bollywood filmmaker, he is best known for his association with Mithun Chakraborty, and out of 70 movies he churned in a short interval of time, Mithun played lead role in 30 out of them.

He also made movies in Telugu and Bengali languages, and is known for his ability to direct films in quick succession of time. He directed 35 films in Telugu and some of the leading actors of the time - Chiranjeevi, Nandamuri Balakrishna, N.T. Rama Rao, Akkineni Nageswara Rao etc worked with him regularly. He also directed 4 movies in Bengali language with Mithun Chakroborty playing the leading role. Most of his movies were B-grade commercials with less memorable ones, and he was quite active in Bollywood in the 1990s and 2000s.

T L V Prasad’s full name is Tatineni Leela Vara Prasad. He was born into a filmy family on March 21, 1952 in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh. He followed the footsteps of his father and entered filmmaking industry. As an assistant director, he began his profession under V. Madhusudhan Rao, and marked his debut as an independent filmmaker through Telugu film, Kudi Yeda Miyathae in 1980. In 1992, he marked his Bollywood debut through I Love You. Known for his successful association with Mithun, his name also entered Limca Book of World Records, and also worked with Mithun’s production company, Mithun's Dream Factory.
