Suman Ranganathan Biography

Suman Ranganathan was a very successful model of middle 90’s. She has acted in a few movies as well. Among her Bollywood movies, Fareb released in the year 1996 is her most successful movie. She played leading role opposite Faraaz Khan and Milind Gunaji, a remake of the 1992 thriller Unlawful Entry. Her role as Suman Varma accumulated critics’ appreciation also. She played the leading role in Ankhon Mein Tum Ho released in 1997. This beautiful model has also done supporting roles in the movies – Aa ab laut chalein, Hatyara, Market, hum tumhare hai sanam, Mehbooba,  Ishq Qayamat, Mujhe Meri Biwi Se Bachaao, Hum Ho Gaye Aapke, Aaghaz and Baghban. She has also done special appearance in Kurushetra and Badal. Apart from Bollywood she is successful in south Indian movies. She has worked for Malayalam, Kannada, Telugu and Tamil of which she was most successful in Kannada.  Apart from acting, she was a very successful model and has appeared in a few music videos as well.

 

Suman Ranganath was born in Bangalore, Karnataka on 26 July 1974. Kannada film Santa Shishunala Shareefa was her debut movie. Though she did a small role in the movie, her talent was appreciated. Her biggest break to Kannada movies was CBI Shankar opposite Shankar Naag, released in 1989. She was quite young that time. Then she did a series of movies in Kannada - Bala Hombale, Dr. Krishna, Santha Shishunala Sharif, Nammura Hammeera and Kempu Surya.

 

She debut Tamil in 1991 with Pudhu Paattu and did a series of Tamil movies till middle 1990’s. Kurumbukkaran, Perumpulli, Maanagara Kaaval, Unnai Vaazhthi Paadugiren, Mudhal Udhayam and Udhavum Karangal were the movies of Suman till middle 90’s. Fareb was her biggest break and slowly she put her steps to Bollywood too. Yet she couldn’t gain much popularity there. She was known for her model looks than acting talents in her movies. Again she returned back to South Indian movies. She was very successful too and won Filmfare best actress in supporting role for Sidlingu in 2012. She has won one more Filmfare nomination for the movie – Savari in 2009.
