Srinivas Biography 
Srinivas is an Indian playback singer and a music composer and has sung more than 2000 songs in various languages like Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi. He is called as Srini. He was born on 7th November 1959 in Ambasamudram in Tamil Nadu in a Tamil Iyengar family. Later his family moved to Thiruvananthapuram and so he had to spend his childhood days in the Malayalam culture.
His aunt Mrs. Padma Narayanan was his music guru. He was influenced by the music of Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer, Kishore Kumar – R. D. Burman and M. D. Ramanthan since his childhood days. He excels in different genres like filmy, ghazal and carnatic music.
He finished his B. Tech from Bombay University in the Department of Chemical Technology and he represented his university in music competitions in youth festivals. He started his career as a chemical engineer and was in this position for about 10 years. His love for music made him to pursue his career as a musician.
He approached Ilayaraja, the popular music director of Tamil film industry in 1988. Though he was given an opportunity he could not perform well at that time. He did playback singing in 1992 in the Tamil film Roja by Mani Ratnam. He then approached A. R. Rahman and Rahman liked his ghazals and offered him work.
He moved to Chennai in 1994 and was lending his voice to television commercials and also performed some devotional albums. His debut song was Sorgam Enbathu Namakku in the film Nammavar, a duet with Swarnalatha.He got recognition after the song, Maana Madurai Maamara Kilayile in the film Minsaara Kanavu. His song, En Uyire En Uyire Vandhu Ennodu Kazhandhuvidu in the film Uyire became all time favorite.
He has worked with many leading music composers such as Ilayaraja, Deva, Vidyasagar, A. R. Rahman. His debut music composition was for the Tamil movie Ae Nee Romba Azhaga Irukke. His song, Ini Naanum Naanillai was a mega hit.
He has also released some music albums. His popular albums are Ussele Ussele, Timeless Classics and Paarvai. He composed music for Seethakalyam, a Malayalam movie. He served as the judge on Airtel Super Singer on Vijay TV. He also worked in the music reality show in Kairali TV, Gandharva Sangeetham.
He received State Award by Tamil Nadu Government twice and Kerala State Award once and Kerela Film Critics Award for Best Music Director. He was rewarded with Kalaimamani award. He also has received The Cinema Express Award, IIFA Award and Filmfans Award.
