Srinath Rajendran Biography

Srinath Rajendran is an upcoming Malayalam film director, who made his debut through the movie Second Show in 2012, which was a commercial success. The movie also marked the successful debut of Mammootty’s son Dulquer Salmaan.  The movie also starred Gauthami Nair, Sunny Wayne, Baburaj, and Sudesh Berry in pivot roles. His second release is Koothara in 2014, which received mixed response from critics and audience. The movie was noticed for its titled and cameo role of Mohanlal, though both the critics and Mohanlal fans were surprised by the role played by the mega star. The movie had an ensemble star cast of young actors including - Bharath, Sunny Wayne, Bhavana, Gauthami Nair, Janani Iyer, Shritha Sivadas and Tovino Thomas.

 

He belongs to Beypore, Kozhikode. Movies have always fascinated him. After graduation only he accumulated enough courage to tell others that he opts for a career in movies. He went to Delhi to pursue a course on filmmaking and once returned he worked under Jayaraj as an assistant director. He assisted Jayaraj for movies like Gulmohar and Loudspeaker. He made his debut as an independent film director in 2012, with a set of youngsters. The movie was Second Show, which was a sleeper hit and gave a new star to Malayalam audience - Dulquer Salmaan who received numerous awards for his debut performance. The movie was scripted by newcomer Vini Viswalal, Srinath’s childhood friend. He took 2 years to complete the movie.

 

He has always been inspired by great directors like Christopher Nolan, Guy Ritchie and Darren Aronofsky and this promising young director hates plagiarism most. His second release is Koothara, again a youth-oriented movie.
