Srikanth Addala Biography

Srikanth Addala is a popular film director of Telugu cinema. Kotha Bangaru Lokam with Varun Sandesh and Shweta Basu Prasad in 2008 marked his successful debut as a film director and since then he has delivered two big hits to Tollywood – Mukunda in 2014 and Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu in 2013. This director is known for his successful association with Dil Raju. Brahmotsavam – a romantic family drama is his upcoming project which is slated to release in 2016. He has also penned lyrics for his debut movie - Kotha Bangaru Lokam. His hit film "Mukunda" successfully launched Varun Tej, the son of Nagababu.

He was interested in art and literature since school days and used to visit village library to read Telugu books and magazines. He watched the cult movie, Sagara Sangamam, several times and got attracted to its romantic fragrance. He started his career as an assistant director in the early 2000s and has worked has worked for films like Arya. He got his break to assist director VV Vinayak for the Chiranjeevi-starrer Tagore in 2003. He is a huge fan of Dasari Narayana Rao and used to follow all his films to learn how write interesting screenplay. His association with the famous producer Dil Raju began with Arya, who offered him projects like Kotha Bangaru Lokam, Mukunda and Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu. Kotha Bangaru Lokam was a big hit which earned multiple awards at Filmfare and several award functions. He worked on the script for six months.

He began his second movie Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu after 2 years. Released in 2013 with Daggubati Venkatesh, Mahesh Babu, Anjali and Samantha Ruth Prabhu in lead roles, this movie also met with commercial success. The movie is regarded as the first star-studded Telugu film in the last twenty or thirty years. The film was one of twenty Telugu entries at the 61st National Film Awards and received seven nominations at the 61st Filmfare Awards South.
