Sonika Chauhan Biography

Sonika Chauhan was a successful model based in Kolkata. She was also an actress, and a TV host. On a fatal night she died in a car accident at Kolkata on 29 April 2017, and the news was reported by national media, giving great shock to entertainment industry. She was on a return from a night party on a car driven by actor Vikram Chatterjee and met with an accident. Vikram Chatterjee was found in a drunken state. Both were taken to the hospital where Sonika was declared dead by the doctors due to severe head injuries, while Vikram survived with injuries. The actor was arrested by Kolkata police and granted bail too.

Sonika Chauhan was born on 12 July 1989 in Kolkata. She was a single child to her parents. His father is a Hindu and mother is a Christian. She schooled at La Martiniere, Kolkata, and later graduation at Mount Carmel College, Bengaluru. She was brilliant in academics and had an innate interest in music, dance and sports. Later she started her modelling journey in Kolkata, and also succeeded as an actress, and a TV host in her short life span.

She came to limelight when she participated in a popular pageant contest - Miss Diva in 2013, where she was adjudged with ‘Miss Popular’ subtitle. She was also popular in Mumbai modelling circuits and succeeded as a TV anchor too. After she anchored ‘Pro Kabaddi League’ she became a household name among Indian TV viewers. She was in a relationship with actor Vikram Chatterjee, when a car accident took her life at the age of 27 in 2017. 'Sonika Chauhan 27 Foundation' was started by her parents in her memory, to help young people.
