Sonal Monteiro Biography

Sonal Monteiro is a popular south Indian actress who appears in Tulu and Kannada language films. She plays lead roles. She marked her film debut with 2015 Tulu film Ekka Saka in a lead role opposite Hitesh Naik which was a super hit at box office. Her later Tulu releases such as Jai Tulunad and Pilibail Yamunakka also registered success at box office. Following the success of three Tulu films in a row, she got her big break to Kannada film industry in 2018. As of now she has acted in 5 Kannada films, of which three got released. She is also to make her Bollywood debut through Saajan Chale Sasuraal 2, a sequel to David Dhawan comedy of 1990s.

Monteiro was born on August 11 in Mangalore, Karnataka. She belongs to a Christian Konkani-speaking family. Wincent Monteiro and Lita Monteiro are her parents. Her family is into hotel business. She has two twin elder sisters. Sonal completed her education from Mangalore, and owns a graduation in commerce. Her first stint in modelling was when she participated in Miss Mangalore Beauty Pageant during her teens. She also bagged ‘Miss Beautiful Smile’ subtitle in the Beauty Pageant.

In 2014 she signed her first film in a lead role, and her debut movie Ekka Saka which was released the following year turned a box office hit. From there on, she continued her success streak giving two Tulu hits in 2016 - Jai Tulunad and Pilibail Yamunakka. Very soon she signed a series of Kannada films. Abhisaarike was her first Kannada release, followed by MLA and Maduve Dibbana, all released in 2018. Pritsoru and Panchatantra are her upcoming Kannada films. She turned a singer with 2016 film, Pilibail Yamunakka.
