Shashilal K. Nair Biography 
Shashilal K. Nair is a film director associated with Bollywood, best known for the controversial movie - Ek Chhoti si Love Story (2002), where the lead role was played by Manisha Koirala. He has also directed Bollywood movies like Grahan, One 2 Ka 4, Falak, Parivaar, Angaar, Bahu Ki Awaaz, Karam dada etc. Shashiklal received National Film Award for Best Special Effects for his 1992 hit movie, Angar, the lead roles played by Jackie Shroff, Dimple Kapadia, and Nana Patekar. In his 2001 release – One 2 ka 4, the lead roles were played by Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla. The music given by A. R. Rahman was a huge hit, while the movie flopped at box office. He has frequently worked with Jackie Shroff and Manisha Koirala in many film projects.
He has also acted in a few movies. He played the role of an honest cop in Guardian. Apart from film direction, he is also known for special effects and he received National award for his own movie, Angaar in 1992. Nair has also been in a few controversies. In 2002, just before the release of his movie - Ek Chhoti si Love Story, its lead heroine accused him of using a body double to shot a few scenes of her, without her permission and she demanded the deletion of those scenes. The spark created by the controversial news helped a lot in the film publicity and the movie emerged as a box office hit. The director agreed to release the movie with a few cuts.
Nair belongs to Kerala and he began his film career in the early 1980s. His first film as an independent director was Bahu Ki Awaaz in 1985, with a strong social message about dowry. The movie was praised by critics and since then, his movies were based on some social themes. Mithun Chakraborty -Meenakshi Sheshadri starrer Parivar also starred a monkey in one of the pivot roles.
