Shashikumar Biography

Shashikumar is a popular actor associated with south Indian films. He is a politician and former parliamentarian too. He predominantly works in Kannada movies and has also appeared in Bollywood films. 1988 movie, Chiranjeevi Sudhakara marked his entry to films. It was followed by Yuddha Kaanda in 1989 where he shared screen space with V. Ravichandran and Bollywood actress Poonam Dhillon. Known for his good looks, he was one of the top heroes of 1990s. He entered movies as a villain. He also showcased his talents as a dancer through his debut flick.

He spent more than 25 years in the film industry and still active playing character roles. A successful leading actor in the 1990s, he has been successfully paired with Malashri in so many movies, followed by  Sudha Rani, Tara and Shruti. He also played a prominent role of Shiva, brother of Rajinikanth in Tamil flick - Baasha. An accident during his career peak which distorted his looks ruined his career. After that he also tried his luck in politics and succeeded too.

He made his acting debut in 1988 as a villain for the movie, Chiranjeevi Sudhakara and soon promoted to positive roles. Indrajith, C.B.I. Shankar, Baare Nanna Muddina Rani, Mruthyunjaya etc are some of his early roles. With early 1990s, he played lead hero role in many movies. He played parallel lead in Mruthyunjaya, and it was one of his early movies in which he worked with Malashri, followed by Policena Hendthi. He worked with Ambarish and Malashri for movies such as Rani Maharani, Mruthyunjaya etc in the early 1990s. He mostly worked in action movies.

Baa Nanna Preethisu, Bare Nanna Muddina Raani, Kollura Kala, Gandharva, Ganeshana Galate, Bare Nanna Muddina Raani  etc are his noted works in lead roles. At his career peak, he suffered a drunken-driving accident near the Bangalore Turf Club. He underwent surgeries which changed his looks and later he couldn’t get roles in movies. He moved to politics and got elected to Parliament from Chitradurga constituency. He made a comeback to films, playing noted character roles in Yejamana, Habba, Yaarige Saluthe Sambala etc.
