Sharan (kannada Actor) Biography

Sharan is a very popular actor associated with Kannada movies, known for playing lead roles. He is also a playback singer and film producer. Sharan marked his acting debut in the mid-1990s, mostly essaying supporting and comic roles. He rose to prominence in the 2000s, and currently one of the leading heroes of Sandalwood. In the first seven movies in a lead role, he played double roles in three of them, indeed a rare feat. His younger sister Shruti, is also an actress, television personality and politician, who appeared in over 100 movies.

Sharan was born into a family of artists, with links to cinema and other forms of entertainment. His grandparents and parents were theatre artists, while his sister Shruti worked in films. His initial interest was in music and was part of an orchestra as a singer. In fact he started his professional career as a singer, releasing devotional albums, and working with a band. He also sang title tracks for many television shows during the first phase of his career. As an actor, his acting began with Doordarshan serials in the 1990s. When he got busy in TV shows, he received his first film offer from director Siddlingaiah in a supporting role. Thus he marked his film debut with Prema Prema Prema in 1996.

He continued playing supporting roles throughout 1990s till late 2000s, and started his new innings as a lead actor. He played numerous comedy roles during his early phase in cinema. He has been nominated for Filmfare Best Supporting Actor award twice for the films, Josh and Parijatha and in 2014 earned a Nomination for best actor for the movie, Adyaksha. As a lead hero, he debut with his 100^th film - Rambo in 2012 which won numerous awards and nominations. Since then he plays only lead roles on screen. Raambo 2 is his most recent release.
