Shamita Singha Biography

Shamita Singha is an Indian super model, television anchor, animal rights activist, VJ and beauty pageant winner from Mumbai. She was crowned Femina Miss Earth India 2001, which enabled her to represent India at the first edition of the international Miss Earth 2001. She became one of the finalists of the beauty pageant. She also won the subtitles - Miss Personality and Best in National Costume. She started to host a daily TV show in 2007 called, Maximum Style, and has completed more than a decade in entertainment field.

Shamita Singha hails from Mumbai, Maharashtra. As a model, she owns a huge innings and also got the tag of super model. She has modelled for many international companies, and has also appeared in ramp walks. She modelled for Levis, Electrolux, and Platinum Jewellery, and appeared in a few TV ads too. As a ramp model she walked for leading designers like Manish Malhotra and Ritu Kumar in their respective fashion shows.

She is also an animal lover and is a trustee on the Animal Welfare Board of India. She campaigns against cruelty towards animals. "Spice Up Your Life – Go Vegetarian" was her campaign where Singha posed on a bed of red chillies wearing nothing for PETA Dishoom. She was featured in Kingfisher's Swimsuit Special Calendar 2007, where she posed near to a killer whale. She was a judge at a fashion festival in Mumbai in Mumbai.

She started her television career as a host through the show, Maximum Style which deals with lifestyle and fitness. Singha is a wine enthusiast turned wine trainer, who gives wine tasting courses. She has briefly dated Bollywood actor Upen Patel.
