Sekhar Suri Biography
Sekhar Suri is a Telugu film director and screenwriter. He is associated with cine industry since early 2000s and has directed six films up-to-date. Among all his releases, he is best known for the commercially successful movie, A Film by Aravind (2006) which he scripted and directed. He made a sequel to the film titled Aravind 2 starring Srinivas Avasarala, Kamal Kamaraju and others. The movie was released in 2013. Adrustam (2002) was his debut flick, and Three (2008), Dr Charkravarthy (2017) and Guns of Banaras (2017), a few more releases. Noted director Indraganti Mohanakrishna is his cousin.
Sekhar was born in Tanuku, West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. During his childhood he loved television and watched Doordarshan a lot. He got obsessed by television and entertainment and later decided to film stream. He discontinued his studies to pursue a career in film making. He changed his original name, SS Chandra Sekhar to Sekhar Suri as his original name is too common in film industry.
Initially he tried his luck in Mumbai, as he wanted to join Bollywood film industry. He worked as a ghost writer for a TV show for long 8 years while at Mumbai. Though he managed to meet actor Sanjay Dutt, he couldn’t make a film in Bollywood and then he moved back to Hyderabad. He had a fresh career beginning.
With the help of actor Tarun, he got a chance to meet the owner of Super Good Films and that’s how he got opportunity to direct Tarun for the film Adrustam. But the movie failed at box office. However with the success of his second film, A Film by Aravind in 2006, he finally succeeded as a filmmaker.
