The Kolkata girl - Satarupa Pyne is a successful model and film actress who made her Bollywood debut as a calendar girl in Madhur Bhandarkar’s Calendar girls (2015), which received positive response from critics. . A fashion oriented movie, she shared screen space with Akanksha Puri, Avani Modi, Ruhi Singh and Kyra Dutt. The movie told the life of 5 models who have been selected to pose for the country's most prestigious annual calendar. It gives a sneak peek into the world of modelling and the exploitations happening here. She played Bong beauty Paroma Ghosh, one of the leading ladies of the movie.

She was born in Kolkata in 1989. Now she has shifted her base to Mumbai, where she continues with her modelling assignments and films. Prior to her entry in movies, she is an established model already, who has worked with many leading brands of the country. When she walked into Madhur Bhandarkar’s office for the first time, he was watching how she walks, how she sits, how she speaks and how she conducts a conversation. The director just advised her not to become anyone else and remain as she is. The actresses had film shooting at Mauritius where she had scenes with tigers in real jungle.

She has been living in Mumbai for two years, where she has established herself as a leading model. Though she had no previous acting experience, she attended the audition and got the film role. She played a 'Bong bombshell' named Paroma Ghosh in this Madhur Bhandarkar film. The character comes close to her real-life persona and she had no problems to wear a bikini for film shoot, as she is already an established model. She shared screen space with four other debutants in Calendar Girls.
