Sasikumaran Biography

Sasikumaran is a film director, producer, writer, cinematographer and lyricist, known for his work in Tamil movies. As a writer, he is best known for writing the script of Tamil version of highly acclaimed film, Urumi directed by Santosh Sivan. He also worked as a cinematographer for one song from the film, Chennai 600028. The song was titled World cup-a jeikaporom. It was the title song for the movie. Sasikumaran is to mark his debut as a film director with the upcoming release, Papparapaam in Tamil starring Vinoth Kishan, Ishaara Nair, Yamini and John Vijay. The film is produced by Ink Pen Films. He co-produces the film, and has also worked on its screenplay.

 

He started his career as an assistant director in Tamil film industry in 2005. Before that he completed his Visual Communication graduation from Loyola College, Chennai. He started with the film, Aadum Koothu, where he assisted T. V. Chandran. The movie won national award for best film in Tamil that year. Later he did camera work for one song sequence of the film, Chennai 600028. He worked as screenplay associate of S. J. Surya for his Telugu film Komaram Puli. Later he joined the acclaimed writer Santosh Sivan as his associate for one of the most expensive Malayalam films, Urumi, and also worked in its Tamil version.

 

He has also worked as a cinematographer for notable documentaries, and most of them have been aired on History TV18, National Geographic Channel (India) etc. His documentaries on Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Lives of Indian stuntmen etc were well received. In 2018 he marks his directorial debut with Papparapaam, a comedy drama. The film begins with a man waking up at his own funeral.
