Sanketh Kashi Biography

Sanketh Kashi was a popular actor associated with Kannada film industry. He was at his career peak during 1990s, and played numerous supporting roles, parallel and second lead roles during the same period. Some of his best performances are Ulta Palta (1997), Nammoora Mandara Hoove (1996), Beladingalagi Baa (2008), and Mangalyam Tantunanena (1998). He won Karnataka state award (Special Jury Award) for his parallel lead as Rama in the movie, Ulta Palta released in 1997. He has appeared in more than 140 films, apart from the very popular Doordarshan series of late 1980s, Malgudi Days.

 

His real name is Kashi, but known by the professional name, Sanketh Kashi. This senior actor of Kannada cinema was born in 1954. His mother’s name is Chinnamma. He remained a bachelor throughout his life. He was one of the companions of Shanker Nag in drama group, ‘Sanketh troup’ and hence he switched his name to Sanketh Kashi. He made a beginning in 1989 from ‘Madhu Masa’, and Ulta Palta is his most popular film, in which he played a double role. The movie ran for 100 days in theaters.

 

He resigned as panel member from the jury of 2007-2008 as he was a part of one of the movies which was listed for awards. Sanketh Kashi died of heart attack on 6 August 2016, aged 62. He was fully active in the film scene till death took him away. So the news of his death came to be a shock to many, related to cine world as well as his fans. Puffing cigarette and cutting jokes on many topics are his characteristics for which he was known among friends, and was a well-mannered gentleman too. He had developed very good ideas on the education system for the rural India just before he passed away so unexpected.
