Sanal Kumar Sasidharan Biography 
Sanal Kumar Sasidharan is a film director associated with Malayalam known for making critically acclaimed movies. In 2015 he won Kerala state award for best film for the work - Ozhivudivasathe Kali, based on the short story written by Unni. R. Started off with short films, he made his first full-length feature film in the year 2014 – Oraalppokkam. The movie earned him Kerala State Award for best director apart from Special Jury award in the John Abraham Awards and Aravindan Puraskaram. The movie also bagged Mohan Raghavan award for Best director 2014. Earlier his short film, Frog was awarded the best short film in the Kerala State Television Awards 2012. Athisayalokam (2001) and Parole (2008) are his other short films.
He belongs to Perumkadavila village of Thiruvananthapuram district. He was born on April 8, 1977. He completed graduation in Zoology and also completed LLB studies and started his professional career as a lawyer. His deep interest in film making prompted him to set up Kazhcha Chalachithra Vedi in 2001, a film society aside a group of friends, to make good movies using crowd funding. Till 2014, he made three short films and one feature film through crowd funding. His first short film – Athisayalokam (2001) earned critical acclaim. His independent film Oraalppokkam created waves in international film festival circuit. The film starred Meena Kandasamy and Prakash Bare in the lead roles.
His debut feature film Kazhcha Chalachithra Vedi won Kerala State Award for best director. The movie was also shown at many international film festivals and won fipresci and Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema awards at International Film Festival of Kerala 2014. His second movie Ozhivudivasathe Kali was also shown at many film festivals. He recorded the shouts and slogans in the streets of Aruvikkara when election campaigns were going on, for his recent movie, Ozhivudivasathe Kali to bring a realistic effect for his movie.
