Samyukta Hornad Biography

Samyukta Hornad is a popular Kannada actress who entered film scene in the year 2007 as a supporting actress of the movie, Aa Dinagalu. Later she portrayed both lead and supporting roles. Her second release is the commercial hit Lifeu Ishtene in 2011, where she played female lead opposite Diganth. Later she played supporting roles in Barfi, Oggarane and a parallel lead in her latest release - Neene Bari Neene (2015), where she shared screen space with Aneesh Tejeshwar and Deepika Kamaiah. Songs were reused from the album with the same title, sung by Sonu Nigam in 2009.

She belongs to Karnataka. Apart from a successful actress, she is also a professional model. She started her career as a TV show anchor and also worked as a full time assistant to the photographer Auditya Venkatesh at his studio for 18 months. In between she started her modelling career and at present she is a successful actress of Kannada film industry. In 2007, she made her film debut through Aa Dinagalu, which starred Chethan Kumar and Veda Shastry in lead roles. Her first break was given by K. M. Chaitanya and the movie received numerous awards at various award nights.

She returned to the industry after a long break of 4 years. The movie was Lifeu Ishtene, a dark comedy-drama film. She played lead role in the movie opposite Diganth and the movie was well received by critics and audience. She also played a supporting role in Kannada film – Barfi the same year. Again she took a break from acting and later made a powerful comeback with the film – Oggarane in 2014. A remake of Malayalam hit Salt n’ Pepper, the movie was made into three south Indian languages at the same time. Though its Tamil (Un Samayal Arayil) and Telugu (Ullavacharu Biryani) versions failed at box office, the Kannada version – Oggarane was a box office hit. She received a Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress – Kannada for the role of Meghana, the original role played by Maithili.
