Roopa Sree Biography

Roopa Sree is a well-known actress of Malayalam screen, best known for her supporting and negative roles. In the 1990s she has also done a few south Indian movies in Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada in lead and supporting roles. She is credited as Ragini in Kannada films during her early days in movies. Now she has fully switched on to small screen, and works in Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu soaps. Her roles in Seethakalyanam, Barathi Kannamma, Deivam Thandha Veedu and Chandanamazha were well received. She is fully busy with her second innings in television since 2005.

Roopa Sree was born in Chennai on 11 June 1970. She belongs to a big family of 5 sisters. She started her acting career, at the age of 13 years in the early 1990s. She marked her debut in lead role, appeared in a few more films in lead role and then switched to supporting roles. Her career as a film actress in the 1990s was not so successful, as compared to her television journey since 2005. Now she is quite familiar to south Indian Tv audiences through the brilliant, strong and meaty character roles she plays on small screen. During her initial days in movies, she also accepted glamorous roles to sustain here, but couldn’t make a mark in the industry.

She made her acting debut with the Malayalam film Kallanum Polisum (1992). She played the female lead in the ensemble cast of Manoj K. Jayan, Mukesh, Sindhuja, Beena Antony etc. Enga Veetu Velan released same year marked her Tamil debut. She appeared in Malayalam films – Arabikadaloram and Captain in the 1990s, and mostly concentrated on to Tamil films.
