Riya Vij Biography

Riya Vij is a film actress of Bollywood. She entered film world as a child artist in the year 2013, when she played the child protagonist in the movie, Gippi. The movie was directed by Sonam Nair and produced by Karan Johar, and she played the titular role of Gurpreet Kaur (Gippi). The film opened with positive to mixed reviews and fared well at box office. She played the role of a young adult struggling with weight problems and her role was well appreciated. She was later seen as a teenager in Bollywood films – Kick and Kapoor and Sons. She played Tia’s friend in Kapoor and Sons, while she appeared as Bubbles, Jacqueline Fernandez‘s sister in Salman starrer.

Her full name is Riya Vijeta. She was born in Delhi on 14 December 1998. She belongs to a Punjabi Sikh family and her father is a businessman and entrepreneur. She grew up along with two siblings - Sarthak Vij and Sant Vij in Delhi where she completed her schooling from Sanskriti School and is currently pursuing her graduation from Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies. She got into films while she was doing her school studies. She plays piano and basketball.

Riya Vij made her acting debut at the age of 14, when she was casted in the lead role of 2013 children’s film, Gippi. She played the role of an overweight teenager who tries to cope with physical, emotional and social changes occurring in her life. Actually her friend wanted to do the role and Riya just accompanied her for the auditions. Among Indian actors she is a great fan of Ranbir Kapoor and wants to work with him.
