Ranjith Biography

Ranjith’s name is counted as one among the most versatile film makers of Malayalam cinema at present. He is not at all interested in releasing 3 or 4 movies every year; instead he concentrates on just one movie or so, so that he can give the best contribution to Malayalam cinema. He is a successful producer, director as well as a script writer.

As a director, he is most known for his movies Pranchiyettan and saint, Indian Rupee, Raavana Prabhu, Thirakatha, Nandanam, Mizhi Randilum, Paleri Manikyam, Chandrolsavam and Spirit. His most powerful screenplays include Mohan lal’s action thrillers – Raavana Prabhu, Aaraan Thampuran, Narasimham, Ustaad and Devasuram. Other Mohan Lal hit movies with his script include Mayamayooram, Rock and Roll and Spirit. It’s clearly to be noted that as a script writer, Renjith has played a very significant role in shaping Mohan Lal’s career as a powerful action hero on screen who delivers thunder dialogues. Years have gone, yet those movies are still in action. Among Mammootty movies, Renjith’s script includes action movies like Neela Giri, Johny Walker and Valiyettan. Pranchiyettan and saint with Thrissur accent can also be included, though it’s with comic shades. Paleri manikyam – oru paathira kolapaathakathinte katha is considered to be a trend setter of Malayalam that shows flexible acting skills of Mammootty is 3 different roles.

It’s not at all easy to list the awards won by Ranjith in the recent few years or so. Among those movies, Indian Rupee, Spirit and Thirakkada need special mention. Indian rupee and Thirakkada has won best Malayalam movie awards in the National award category while Spirit, the movie that gives lessons to alcohol addicts won ‘Best film on other social issues awards’ in 2013. It is to be noted that most of his movies are related to social issues and give good messages to youth and audience. Indian Rupee gives a special message to youth who are easily attracted to fake money to earn big in small time. Through this movie, he clearly states that even if you are the most brilliant thief, you will be caught at the end and so, it’s always better to keep your mind away from being greedy and bad deeds to earn quick.

He has won Kerala state critics award many times for best movie, direction as well as script writing. He entered film industry by doing small roles, later done scripts and now, he is the most established name of Malayalam film industry. Truth is that, after the social issues-based movies like Spirit and Indian Rupee, youth expects a lot from his movies. In the present times, he make us believe that Lord Krishna can come and live among us. When the climax of the movie Nandan was running on screen, no one even exclaimed that ‘it never happens in modern world’. That shows the talent of this great personality in shaping the characters the way he wishes.
