Ramya Barna Biography

Ramya Barna is a south Indian film actress who primarily works in Kannada films. Though known as a heroine of commercial movies, she has also done one realistic film in Tulu language – Oriyardori Asal which earned her a nomination at Red FM Tulu Film Award for Best Actress. Tulu film Madime is her latest release. She made her film debut in the year 2008 and has appeared in around 25 movies, belonging to Kannada, Tamil, Tulu and Telugu languages. The actress made big made headlines for her steamy performance in Nee Bandhu Ninthaaga, a delayed release. But the actress cleared that she did the song under compulsion and declared no more steamy roles onscreen.

The actress was born in beautiful Kodagu of Karnataka district in 1986. Ramya never dreamt to become a female heroine. She wanted to step into the travel and tourism business. She graduated from Jyothi Niwas College. She started her career with Wipro in a BPO in Navi Mumbai. When she received a film offer in 2008 from a film producer, she was reluctant to accept the offer. However her friends encouraged her to accept the role and that’s how she made her film debut through Hani Hani, where she played second lead. It was followed by her first lead role - Nannedeya Haadu. She also acted in the Telugu film Shudra, a suspense thriller.  She also completed her MBA course while doing films.

She started off doing supporting roles and gained popularity through the roles she played in Pancharangi and Hudugru, the movies which gave her a nomination at Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress in 2010 and 2011 respectively. In 2010, she also came to controversy for an alleged relationship with her co-star, Anand, a married man. However the actress cleared her stand that it’s the troubled relationship that Anand’s wife wanted a reason to apply for a divorce.
