Ramesh Bhatkar Biography

Ramesh Bhatkar is a Marathi actor associated with movies, plays and theater for more than 30 years. He is the son of legendary music director of ‘Humari yaad aayege’ fame - Snehal Bhatkar. Though he has spent 30 years in the entertainment industry he is best known for his roles as a detective and cop in the TV series Commander and Hello Inspector. Teesra Dola, Haddapaar, Bandini and Yugandhara are also his memorable television roles belonging to this genre.

 

As a stage actor he has appeared in more than 50 plays of which he played main actor role in many Marathi plays. Denaryaache Haath Hazaar, Akher Tu Yeshilach, Rahu Ketu, Mukta, Kevha Tari Pahate, The Boss- Sutradhar, Ooghadale Swargache Daar, Shadyantra and Kinara are among those plays where he played the lead hero role. In 2007, a case was filed against him and 5 others for an attempt rape by a 17-year old girl.

 

He was born in 1949 in Maharashtra to famous music director Snehal Bhatkar. He is married to Mridula, a High Court judge who has been associated with theater earlier before she joined service. His son Harshavardhan is pursuing PhD in the US. In his early college days, Ramesh was a champion swimmer. He also represented the college aquatics team and was an enthusiastic kho-kho player of Vijay Club.

 

Marathi film Chandoba Chandoba Bhaglaas ka in 1977 marked his acting debut. It was followed by AshtaVinayak and he got attached to film industry forever. Till now he has done over 100 movies which include Duniya kari Salam, Maaherchi Manasa, Aapli Maanasa, and Maherchi Sadi. Maherchi Sadi in 1991 by director Deepak Balraj Vij is his most memorable role onscreen.
