Ramana Madhesh Biography

Ramana Madhesh, also credited as R. Madhesh is a Tamil film director and screenwriter. He is also a film distributer. Vijay Starrer "Madhurey" and Vijayakanth's 150th film, Arasangam are among his most successful and notable works as a film director. His most recent release, Mohini – a horror flick starring Trisha Krishnan bombed at box office. He started his film journey in the 1990s as a screenwriter, and 1999 super hit film, Mudhalvan was his debut flick. Though he scripted the movie aside film’s director S. Shankar, he was uncredited for this flick, best known for its powerful screenplay and power packed dialogues and performances.

 

His real name is Rathnappa Madhesh. In the 1990s he worked as a distributor and has distributed movies such as 'Thulluvatho Illamai', and Ajith starrer Villain is his most recent work as a distributor. He has also played the role of a creative director in Tamil film industry, and has directed one Marathi movie in 2016 titled, Friends. He marked his debut as a writer with Shankar’s Muthalvan in 1999. The movie was remade in Bollywood the following year titled, Nayak starring Anil Kapoor and Rani Mukerji.  

 

After distributing many movies since 1990s, he ventured into film production with Chocolate in 2001. He also produced one more film, Madhurey in 2004. As a film director he marked his debut with 2009 political thriller, Arasangam. It was Vijayakanth’s 150th film. The film opened to positive reviews from critics and become a hit. As a director his second film was Mirattal in 2012 starring Vinay Rai, Sharmila Mandre and Prabhu in the lead roles. It was a remake of the successful Telugu film, Dhee. He worked as a creative director for Kochadaiiyaan.
