Ram Madhvani is a successful film director of Bollywood who shot to fame with one of the finest biopics in the recent times – Neerja, based on the life and bravery of Neerja Bhanot, the Pan Am flight stewardess. The movie with Sonam Kapoor in the lead, released in February 2016 was highly appreciated by critics and mouth to mouth publicity has already turned the movie to a super hit. The film was made on a moderate budget of 12 crore rupees, plus 7 or 8 crores spent on its marketing strategies. A renowned Ad-film maker, Neerja is only his second feature film and the movie marked his return after a hiatus of long 14 years. Let's Talk (2002) in English was his debut feature film, which earned numerous film awards at many international events.

He was born into a rich business family in Barshi, near Solapur. His family owned textile mills and sugarcane farms. They also owned four theatres in the town. He grew up watching movies such as Jugnu, Kal Aaj Aur Kal, Yaadom Ki baarat etc in those cinema theatres. In fact a big part of his upbringings was associated with films. He wanted to make films from the age of 16. He dreamt to become a director while at school. Ram Madhvani has been associated with ad world before he ventured to film making. English language film - Let's Talk (2002) marked his debut in film director.

He is a recipient of Teachers Achievement Award (2004–2005). Known for many popular ads, he won a bronze and a silver lion at Cannes for the Happy Dent White commercial in the year 2006, apart from several other awards. The ad was also included in the Top 20 commercials of the millennium by the Gunn Report. Ranked at 11, it was the only Indian ad featured in the list. He made the documentary Everlasting Light on Amitabh Bachchan for the Lincoln Center in America. Known for association with Aamir khan, he shot the song, “Bheja kum” for his film Taare Zameen Par and also the official theme song video for his TV series Satyamev Jayate. 'Har ek friend zaroori hota hai' and 'Happy Dent' are among his countless popular ad films.
