Raju Thota Biography

Raju Thota is a young cinematographer associated with Telugu film industry. He shot to fame after his debut work for the critically acclaimed and super successful film, Arjun Reddy starring Vijay Deverakonda released in 2017. His debut work got noticed and received accolades from audience and critics. Similar to many fresh artists who debut with this film, Arjun Reddy is his debut work. Movie’s director Sandeep Vanga and heroine Shalini Pandey too made their debuts with this film, which was highly praised by critics for its realistic work and regarded as a landmark film.

 

Raju Thota also mentioned as Thota Raju hails from Suryapet, Telangana. His father Thota Venkat is a makeup artist associated with Telugu cinema, and has worked with actor, Mohan Babu for many years. Raju Thota was interested in photography since his younger days, and for the same reason joined as an assistant to the cinematographer, Surender Reddy, which later paved his way to films. He worked as an assistant in both Bollywood and Telugu films during his early days.

 

Before his debut as a full-fledged cinematographer of Telugu cinema, he has worked as an assistant in both Tollywood and Bollywood. In association with director Mani Sharma, he has worked in Bollywood for hit and highly acclaimed films like Ishqiya starring Vidya Balan. He also worked as an assistant for less-heard Bollywood film, Rambo Raj Kumar. Later he worked with Telugu cinema.

 

His work as an assistant for the Telugu movie, Pelli Choopulu paved his debut as a cinematographer and he made a grand entry to the field. Nagesh Banel was originally signed for the directorial debut of Sandeep Vanga. But due to creative differences, the project was finally bagged by Raju Thota.
