Rajkamal Biography

Rajkamal is a noted character artist associated with Tamil cinema and television. Raj got well established in television field before he forayed into Tamil films in 2013. As a television actor, he is best known for the roles in Sahana, Kalyanam, Bhairavi Aavigalukku Priyamanaval and Anjarai Petti. He also participated in Star Vijay’s Jodi Number One show aside his wife Latha Rao. As a film actor, he made appearance in the movies – Saroja, Naveena Saraswathi Sabatham, Lingaa, Sandikuthirai and most recently Melnaattu Marumagan. The movie stared Rajkamal in lead role and Andreanne Nouyrigat played his female lead. The movie opened to bad reviews and flopped at 2018 box office.

Rajkamal hails from Tiruchchirappalli, Tamil Nadu. He was introduced as an actor by director K. Balachander in the television series Sahana in the year 2003. Later he worked with the same director for 11 more series. He appeared alongside his wife Latha Rao for the first season of Star Vijay’s Jodi Number One, followed by "Aaja Meri Soniye" song in Venkat Prabhu's Saroja in 2008. A recipient of Film Fans Association award, he rose to fame through a series of roles he portrayed on mini screen in the mid-2000s. He also appeared as a guest artist in the show Bhairavi Aavigalukku Priyamanaval which was aired on Sun TV during the period, 2012–2017.

In 2014, he got opportunity to work with Rajinikanth for the movie, Lingaa. He had to go through a screen test before he was finally elected to play Bank security. He shot for the film in four days in Hyderabad aside the lead pair. After playing a few supporting roles he got his first lead role through Melnaattu Marumagan. He played a tour guide of Mahabalipuram in the film released in 2018.
