Rajiv Kanakala Biography

Rajiv Kanakala is a film actor who predominantly works in Telugu cinema. Started his professional career through short films and TV serials, later he moved to big screen. He is the son of veteran film actor Devadas Kanakala. Rajiv is married to popular actress and TV host Suma Kanakala. The couple together has set up a television production house in 2013. Rajiv Kanakala has showcased his talents as a lead actor, character artist as well as villain roles.

He hails from a filmy family of Hyderabad, Telangana. His father Devadas Kanakala is a well-established actor of Telugu film industry. His mother’s name is Laksmi Devi. Devadas has started an acting institute for students and Lakshmi Devi is currently running the institute. He is married to star Telugu anchor Suma kanakala of Malayali origin and the couple has two kids - Roshan kanakala and Manaswini kanakala. His single sibling Srilakshmi is also an actress. Following his father’s footsteps Rajiv too decided to join film industry. But he had to struggle a bit before he earned recognition as a film actor.

Rajiv started his professional career as a television actor.  Rajiv appeared in TV shows - Ruthuragalu, Kasthuri, Rajashekara charithra, Shanthi nivasam etc before he made his acting debut in 1995. He gained popularity through the TV serials, Ruthuragalu and Kasthuri of 1990s. Rambantu in 1995 marked his acting debut. But the movie was a failure. He earned recognition through the film - Student no.1 released in 2001. He played the second lead in the film, which starred Jr NTR and Gajala in lead roles. It was Jr NTR’s first hit film. Since then he shares a friendship relationship with the actor too. He played diverse roles on silver screen after that.
