Rajesh Vivek Biography

Rajesh Vivek is a Bollywood actor known for portraying character roles. He is regularly featured in Gowarikar movies. He is known for portraying his roles in a distinct and comic style, mostly astrologer roles even though his roles are short. He shot to fame after playing the role astrologer Guran in Lagaan. The role was offered to him by AshutoshGowarikar, who offered him another noted role in his next two films – Swadesh and What’s your Rashee? Vivek played the role of Postmaster in Swades and astrologer-detective in What’s your Rashee? His other noted roles are Maya Memsaab,Do DooniChaar, Agnipath,BuntyaurBabli, Son of Sardar, Veerana, Bandit Queen,Khelein Hum JeeJaanSey, God Tussi great ho, Jodha Akbar, Karan Arjun, Dilkarishta and many more.

Though he has been associated with Bollywood since 1980s, his role as astrologer in Aamir Khan starrerLagaan gave him the big break to his acting career. Then he appeared in a coke ad aside Aamir, shot by Ashutosh once again. Since then he has appeared in all movies of Gowarikar. He played the role of VedVyas in the most popular television series of Doordarshan, Mahabharata in the late 1980s. It proved to be one of his initially noted roles. 

Rajesh was born on January 31,1949. He was born in Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh and has remained as a cricket captain during his school days. He completed Master’s in Ancient history & Archaeology before reaching cinema. He was introduced to big screen by ShyamBenegal through his movie Junoon in 1978. He was a soothsayer in that film. Rajesh is popular playing tantrik and baba style roles.

He died on January 14, 2016 at the age of 66 due to a massive heart attack at Hyderabad.
