Rajendra Singh Babu Biography 
S. V. Rajendra Singh Babu is an Indian film producer and director who concentrated most on Kannada films. Known for directing movies of different genres, this talented filmmaker is a recipient of many state and National awards. He is the recipient of president's Rajat Kamal Award for best film and director thrice. His 1985 movie –Bandhana received National award for best regional film, apart from state awards. The movie was screened at Moscow International Film Festival. Muththina Haara in 1990 too received both these prestigious awards.
Mungarina Minchu in 1997 received Best Regional Film and Direction award and the following year, Bhoomi Thayiya Chochchala Maga received state awards for Best Social Concern Film and Direction. Hoovu Hannu bagged both state awards and Filmfare for best movie and direction. His 1981 film ‘Simhada Mari Sainya’ was screened at International Children film festival Corebeil – Essonnes. Mera Faisla, Meri Aawaz Suno, Aag Ka Dariya, Love in Kashmir, Ek Se Bhale Do and Sharara are some of his Bollywood movies.
Babu was born in Mysore, Karnataka in a family of film fraternities. He was born to filmmaker of yesterdays, Shankar Singh and glamorous actress Prathima Devi. His father wanted him to become a doctor. But Babu preferred to remain behind camera. This director created waves onscreen in the 1980s by choosing themes from novels, apart from comedies and social and family dramas. ‘Antha’ - the first political cinema in India was directed by him and Bandana is one of his finest works which was shown at Moscow International Film Festival. ‘Nagara Hole’ is his debut movie and he has also made many children films. He has delivered many hits with Dr Vishnuvardhana. His sister is married to actor Jai Jagadish.
