Raj Kundra Biography
Raj Kundra is a successful British Indian businessman and entrepreneur. He, along with his wife Shilpa Shetty holds the major shares of IPL Team – Rajasthan Royals. Apart from a successful businessman he is interested in both cricket and mixed martial arts too.
Raj was born in London on 9 September 1975. His childhood and young days were spent there. He left studies at the age of 18. Business was his interest. In 2004 was ranked by SUCCESS magazine as the 198th richest British Asian. In 2009, he became the Chief Executive Officer of Essential General Trading LLC. In his words, he was undertaking Dubai-based international trading company dealing in precious metals, construction, mining and green renewable energy projects. From 2009 onwards he became associated with film production of Bollywood.
Kundra married actress Shilpa Shetty of Big Brother fame on 22 November 2009. They dated for a while before getting married. Their association and buying of IPL Team was done before their marriage and they too were together spotted in IPL games to support their team. Shetty's image and status as a "global brand" were well used to market their IPL team. Now also, he finds time to see matches. Earlier Kundra was married to Kavita Kundra. They got divorced due to personal indifferences and now Kundra is happily married to Shilpa Shetty and they are blessed with a son too.
On January 16, 2012, he along with Sanjay Dutt together launched India's first professionally organized mixed martial arts fighting league — the Super Fight League. In 2013 IPL matching, after Rajasthan Royal’s Sreesanth was caught red handed for match fixing, many more names were also surfaced of which Kundra’s name was also noted. A few more team members were also arrested and Kundra was also questioned by Delhi Police in June 2013 with regard to the 2013 Indian Premier League spot-fixing case. Kundra admitted to betting and revealed that he has lost huge amounts in betting.
