Kalanidhi Maran Biography 
Kalanidhi Maran was born in 1964 and is the Chairman and Managing Director of the Sun Network. This is the most profitable network of television channels in Asia. He acquired Spice Jet airlines in June 2010. His television network concentrates mainly on South India. He also owns FM radio stations, DTH service and Airlines which spread across the nation.
His father Murasoli Maran was the former Union Minister of Commerce. His brother Dayanidhi Maran is the former Textile Minister of India. Former chief minister of Tamil Nadu M. Karunanidhi is his uncle. He married Kaveri in 1991 and has one daughter, Kavya born in 1992. His wife Kaveri serves as the joint managing director of Sun Network.
He finished his schooling at Don Bosco, Chennai and continued his higher education at Loyola College. Then he finished his MBA from the University of Scranton and returned back to India in 1987. Then he started working for Kungumam, a Tamil Magazine. His other business entities are Sun Direct DTH, Sun Network, Spicejet, Suryan FM, Sun Pictures, Dinakaran, Tamil Murasu, etc.
His father had a number of political rivals. But in spite of this, he emerged to be a very successful entrepreneur. He founded Sun TV on 14th April 1993. His net worth exceeded $1 billion by 2005 and in 2010 he was the 17th richest man in India with $4 billion net worth. He is the highest paid business man in India and won Young Businessmen awards from CNBC. Sun TV was listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange on 24th April 2006.
The followers of M K Azhagiri attacked his newspaper office in May 2007. This is because of the report of the survey which stated that people prefer M K Stalin over M K Azhagiri. Though it was claimed that the dispute was solved between both families in December 2008, Jak communications, Cable TV Distribution Company owned by Azhagiri filed a criminal case against Kalanidhi Maran in 2010.
