Radha Biography

Udaya Chandrika, with screen name Radha is a former actress of south Indian movies during 80’s. She is the younger sister of actress Ambika and daughters – Karthika Nair and Thulasi Nair have also stepped into movies. Karthika is a very successful actress of Tamil at present. She has acted in over 200 movies in her career including Hindi and all south Indian languages.  Yet she was most popular in Tamil movies. At present she is a Judge in STAR Vijay Jodi Number One Season 6 Reality Dance program.

Radha was born in Kilimanoor, Thiruvananthapuram on June 3, 1965. But now, she along with her family is settled in Mumbai. For the past 20 years they have owned a chain of restaurants in Mumbai and two hotels called UDS in Kovalam at Kerala. They also won a restaurant in the UK named "Rock and Roll Kitchen".

Radha debut film industry through Tamil movie, Alaigal Oivathillai in 1981 opposite another newcomer, Karthik. The movie was directed by Bharathiraja and she played the role of a teenager in this movie. This hit movie is regarded as a cult classic by film critics. The successful Jodi was paired once again in Pakkathu Veetu Roja, Valibamey Vaa Vaa and Ilanjodigal. She worked with Kamal Hassan in movies like Oru Kaithiyin Diary, Thoongathey Thambi Thoongathey, Kadhal Parisu and Jappanil Kalyanaraman. She has shared screen space with her sister Ambika in the movies - Enkeyo Ketta Kural, Kadhal Parisu, Anna Nagar Mudhal Theru, Idhaya Kovil and Vellai Roja. Both the sisters were quite successful during 80’s.

Radha debut Telugu movies with Mr.Vijay. Her successful Telugu movies are Yamudiki Mogudu, Raamudu Bheemudu, State Rowdy and Agni Parvatam. She was paired opposite Chiranjeevi in 16 films of which Trinetra was a Hindi movie.  A few of her Kannada movies are Soubhagya Lakshmi (debut movie) and a successful movie Ranachandi. She has also worked in Hindi movies - Vicky Dada, Phool Aur Patthar and Faoladi Mukka. Among her Malayalam movies, Sathyan Anthikkad’s Revathikkoru paavakutty where she played the daughter of Bharat Gopi is most memorable.
