Puneet Sira Biography

Puneet Sira is a filmmaker, actor and screenwriter associated with Indian and British films. He is a co-partner of Vikram Dhillon (brother-in-law) in Eyeline Entertainment, a production company, a company formed in the year 2013. The production company has successfully produced the Punjabi films - Pinky Moge Wali starring Neeru Bajwa, Geeta Zaildar and Gavie Chahal, and - Ji Karda (2013). They have also been involved with the Bollywood projects, I - Proud To Be An Indian, Jai Veeru and Kisaan, where Vikram’s sister Vekeana Dhillon served as the screenwriter and Vikram’s mother penned the lyrics for the song, "Khyalan Wich” for Bollywood film - I - Proud To Be An Indian. Puneet was associated with Sohail Khan for many Bollywood projects. He is married to Vikram’s sister Vekeana Dhillon since 2010.

 

Puneet Sira was born on 3 December 1967 in London. He is of Indian origin. He started his career as a stage actor at the age of nine, when he appeared as a beggar boy for the play - The Warrior's Return in 1977. Two years later he made his film debut as a child artist for the movie, Arabian Adventure (1979). Since then he got regularly associated with theater productions and feature films in UK. He served as an assistant director at the BBC Drama Films Department and this period was the turning point of his professional journey. In the early 1990s, he worked as an assistant director for many British movies like Sweet Nothing, Can You Hear Me Thinking, Flying Colors, Memsahib Rita etc before his directorial debut through Strings in 1996, which he scripted and produced as well.

 

He also served as the director of the London Academy of Acting, an acting school started by his father. He acted as the casting director of a few movies like Immaculate Conception (1992), Jinnah (1998), Frantz Fanon etc. He also acted in many television serials like How We Used to Live, Why Couples Break Up, London's Burning, The Moneymen, The Park etc. He is married to noted screenwriter and TV anchor Vekeana Dhillon and she is associated with his production company as a writer. The couple has two kids.
