Priyanka Nair Biography

Priyanka Nair is a model-turned-actress who works mainly in Malayalam films. She debut film industry with Tamil movie - Veyyil in 2006, she did a couple of Tamil movies – Tholaipesi and Thiruththam in 2007, but later moved to Malayalam movies. She has won Kerala state awards for best actress for the movie, Vilapangalkkappuram in the year 2008, where she did the role of Zahira. She has also worked in National award winning movie, Keshu and the character played by her was Shalini. Her other notable Malayalam movies include – Ividum Swargamanu, opposite Mohan lal, Orma Mathram, Kichamani MBA opposite Suresh Gopi, Bhoomi Malayalam and Samastha Keralam PO opposite Jayaram. She has debut in Kannada and her other Tamil movies include - Sengathu Bhoomiyilae and Vaanam Paartha Seemaiyile of 2012.   

Priyanka Nair was born on June 30, 1985 at Thiruvananthapuram. She did her primary education at Thiruvananthapuram and completed her college studies at Mar Ivanios College, Thiruvananthapuram. Her subject was physics. While she was studying in Thiruvananthapuram, she did part time acting through television serials. She worked in serials like Umakkuyil, Megham and Akashadoothu. For her, acting was just time pass during that time and she was not at all serious. Her dream was to become a lecturer.

But later, she debut Tamil with the movie Veyil in the year 2006. The movie was directed by Shankar with Bhavana and Bharath in leading roles. She did supporting actress role in this movie. Later she got more offers from Tamil and she subsequently acted in a couple of Tamil movies - Tholaipesi and Thiruththam in 2007. Her debut Malayalam film was Kichamani MBA (2007) where she did supporting actress role.

Then she continued to do supporting roles in Malayalam cinema till T.V.Chandran offered her the leading actress role in the movie, Vilapangalkkappuram. This movie proved to be the turning point of her career. The film is based on the aftermath of the Gujarat riots of 2002. The film earned the second feature film of Malayalam of the year 2008 and Priyanka won Kerala state awards for the best actress too. Priyanka nair played the role of a muslim girl, Zahira, a victim of gang rape.
