Priyadarshini Ram Biography

Priyadarshini Ram is a Telugu filmmaker and actor who was also known as an advertising executive. He has scripted and directed two Telugu movies – Manodu in 2006 for which he got Nandi Special Jury Award and Toss in 2007. He also played the lead hero role in his debut flick, Manodu. Though the movie received rave reviews from critics, it didn’t fare well at box office. He was a well-known advertising personality from Hyderabad, and was also known as an anchor and a political analyst, before his foray to films.

He was born on 24 October 1955 in Tenali of Guntur District, Andhra Pradesh. His childhood and teens were spent in different Indian cities like Bhilai, Delhi and Hyderabad, where he did his schooling. At the age of 13 he lost his father. He passed out from Nizam College in 1980. Though he received admission at Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, he couldn’t leave his mother alone. So he didn’t pursue the course.

Since college days he was inclined towards writing. It helped him to enter into the field of advertising where he became successful. He also did advertising campaigns nationwide for several political parties during this time. It proved to be a major break in his career. In the 1990s he ventured into television serial production. He produced and directed one Telugu serial and also appeared as an actor in this detective series. It was his first handy experience in the field of acting and direction in front of the camera.

He was active with his ad world in Hyderabad for which he lost two good opportunities too. In the year 2006 he made his debut to silver screen as an actor, director, producer and screenwriter which brought him to spotlight.
