Pritam Chakraborthy Biography

Pritam Chakraborthy, popularly known as Pritam is originally a Bengali music director who later joined Bollywood. He has given numerous hit numbers including Hare Ram Hare Krishna and Dheere Dolna of Bhool Bhulayya, Dhoom machale of Dhoom, Alvida of Life in a metro, Bheegi bheegi si hai of Gangster, Hal-E-Dil of Murder 2, Dum maro dam, Tum se hi from Jab we met, Kyon aaj kal from Woh Lamhe, Kaise bathein and Shining in the of Ajab pyar ki gajaz kahani , Teri meri from Bodyguard and many more.

Though he entered the Bollywood along with Jeet through movies like Mere yaad ki shaddi hai (2002), the duo get separated. Sharara Sharara – an item number pictured on Shamita Shetty was popular that time. As a solo composer his first couple of movies were big flops – Fun2ssh. Doom raised his career graph sharp and after that, till now Preetham didn’t look back. Doom Machale pictured on Tata Young is still a popular item number.

He has countless hit songs for the movies Dhoom, Dhoom 2, Jab we met, Love Aj Kal, Singh is King, Once upon a time in Mumbai, Tum Mile, Ajab pyar ki gajaz kahani, Bhool Bhulayya, Woh Lamhe, Muder 2, Body guard, Jannat 2, Gangster, Cocktail and Barfi. His real success was that he maintained equilibrium between fast numbers and slow numbers, thus reaching the heart of millions – teenagers who like fast numbers and veterans who love melodious sweet tunes. Gala lag jaa of De dana dun, Dil ifazat of Tum mile, Kaise bathaye of Ajab pyar ki gajaz kahani, Tum se hi from Jab we met, E Aao from Dum Mare dam, Teri meri from Bodyguard , Dheere Dolna of Bhool Bhulayya and Tere ore from Singh is King are a few such instances where we saw the real talent of this music composer.     

Though he was nominated many times for his wonderful music in Filmfare, he won the awards only in 2013 for the Oscar nominated movie – Barfi where Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra played the key roles. Beside Barfi, he was nominated many times in several awards for his wonderful music in Ajab prem ki gazab kahani, Jab we met, Dhoom, Gangster, Dhoom 2, Life in a metro, Bhool Bhulayya, Race, Jannat, Tum mile, Singhh is king, Love Aaj kal, Crook, Once upon a time in Mumbai, Ready, Body guard, Dum maro dam and Cocktail.
