Preetham Gubbi Biography

Preetham Gubbi is a noted screenwriter and film director of Kannada cinema. The blockbuster hit Mungaru Male in 2006 marked his career as a successful screenwriter and Haage Summane in 2008 marked his career as a director. He is the grandson of the legendary theatre artist cum Nataka ratna - Gubbi Veeranna. A great admirer of Bollywood movies and romance, Karan Johar, Yash Chopra and Aditya Chopra are his likes. He is active in the film field for one decade or so and has now turned to a producer.

 

Preetham entered the Kannada film industry as an assistant scriptwriter of the runaway hit like Mungaru Male in 2006. The movie was directed by Yograj Bhat which told the story of love and sacrifice. The movie created box office history and later Gubbi wrote two simple stories – Geleya and Aramane. Haage Summane in 2008 was his directorial debut and since then he wrote the scripts and directed the movies as well. Maleyali Jotheyali, Johny Mera Naam Preethi Mera Kaam, Jaanu, Nam Duniya Nam Style and Dil Rangeela are the movies for which he acted as a screenwriter-director. Boxer – his upcoming movie is slated to release on 27 November 2015. The movie stars Dhananjay and Kruthika Jayakumar in lead roles.

 

Preetham turned a producer with the movie - Nam Duniya Nam Style in 2013. The movie inspired from Bollywood hit – Dil Chahta Hai, starred Vinayak Josh, Krishna Nagappa, kavya Shetty and Krishna Nagappa in lead roles. The movie was released under the banner name of ‘Gubbi Talkies’. ‘Maleyali Jotheyali’ and ‘Jaanu’ are his notable movies as a director. He is married to Sushma Rao, who is an artist and anchor on the small screen. After marriage she cut short her works, though works as a TV anchor.
