Pratim D. Gupta Biography 
Pratim D. Gupta is a Kolkata-based journalist, film critic, screen writer and successful film director. He marked his directorial debut through Bengali film, Paanch Adhyay (2012), starring Priyanshu Chatterjee and Dia Mirza. The film was selected as the Centerpiece Premiere at the South Asian International Film Festival in New York, and was featured in New Voice in Indian Cinema section at the Mumbai Film Festival. The movie also won Best Film Award at Kalakar Awards. As a film critic, his reviews on Bollywood films are published in ‘The Telegraph’ newspaper.
Pratim D. Gupta was born on 11 November 1981 in Kolkata, West Bengal. After doing his schooling from South Point School, Kolkata, he took graduation in Mass Communication and Film Studies from St. Xavier's College, Kolkata. Later he started his career as a journalist, and worked with ‘The Telegraph’ newspaper reviewing Hindi movies. As a film director marked his directorial debut through Bengali film, Paanch Adhyay (2012). The movie also introduced Bollywood actress and model Diya Mirza to Bengali screen. The movie was opened to positive reviews.
He was also one among the 11 directors, who directed the collaborative feature film, X: Past Is Present (2015) which had one whole story with the eleven directors making sections of it. It was his second film as a director. Each director dealt with the memory of a girlfriend, and each woman represents a different genre, and all the subplots are interlinked. He directed the segment, "8 to 8", starring Parno Mittra, Usha Uthup and Ronodeep Bose. Shaheb Bibi Golaam and Maacher Jhol are his other hit Bengali films, and Ahare Mon is his most recent release.
