Pratibha Sinha Biography

Pratibha Sinha is a former Bollywood actress. She is the daughter of Mala Sinha, a very successful and one of the highly paid actresses of Bollywood 1950s-1970s, and Nepali actor Chidambar Prasad Lohani. Pratibha Sinha played lead and supporting roles in a few movies, mostly in the 1990s and later. But she couldn’t succeed as her mother. As an actress, she was featured in the top chartbuster song of 1996 – Pardesi Pardesi (Raja Hindustani) in a guest role. She is still known for this evergreen song. She has played lead and supporting roles aside Bollywood stars – Ajay Devgan, Suniel Shetty and Akshay Kumar in the 1990s.

Pratibha Sinha was born on July 4, 1969, to actress Mala Sinha and C. P. Lohani, a former businessman and actor from Nepal. Her mother is also from Nepal, and Pratibha was born as a star kid, as she was born to a popular acting pair of Nepali cinema in the 1960s. Sinha started her film career with 1990 David Dhawan film, Aandhiyan. She played a supporting role. Then she appeared in a couple of less known films like Mehboob Mere Mehboob and Kal Ki Awaz, before she was paired with Ajay Devgan in a lead role for 1993 film, Dil Hai Betaab.

In 1994 she made her Telugu debut with Pokkiri Raja, starred in a parallel lead role aside top stars Venkatesh and Roja. It was a remake of Hindi blockbuster Aankhein. Later she played supporting roles in Bollywood such as Ek Tha Raja and Tu Chor Main Sipahi before she appeared as a gypsy girl in the popular song, "Pardesi Pardesi". It helped her to bag a lead role in 1997 film, Gudgudee. The movie’s music was a hit, but film flopped. Later she played a few supporting roles before disappeared from screen in year 2000. Le Chal Apne Sang was her last release. She was also seen in the song, Hungama Ho Gaya (Deewana Mastana).

Currently she lives with her parents in West Bengal. She takes care of stray dogs and cats at Mala Sinha's home. Her maternal grandmother lived with them till her death in April 2017. Pratibha was also in the news for her love affair with an already married musician, Nadeem Saifi (of Nadeem-Shravan duo) in the 1990s. Reportedly, Mala Sinha opposed their relationship, and took her to Chennai. Once she returned to Mumbai, she revealed to a journalist that she never wanted to marry Nadeem. Nadeem as about get divorced from his first wife Sultana to marry Pratibha at that time. Prathiba also remained in limelight for a while for her bold photo shoots in the 1990s.
