Prashanth Neel Biography

Prashanth Neel is a noted film director associated with Kannada film industry. He made his debut with the 2014 film, Ugramm which was well praised by film critics. The movie was a winner at box office too. He received SIIMA Award for Best Debutant Director and also a nomination at Filmfare South awards in Filmfare Award for Best Director category. KGF is his upcoming flick, which marks the debut of super successful model and international beauty pageant winner Srinidhi Ramesh Shetty in a lead role. Yash plays the male lead role in the film. Noted actor Srimurali is his brother-in-law.

Prashanth Neel hails from Bangalore, Karnataka. He took to filmmaking initially for want of money. Later he did a crash course in film direction before marking his debut as a film director in Sandalwood. He decided to cast his brother-in-law Srimurali for the lead role in his debut flick. He titled the movie as Aa Hudugi Neene and also completed its screenplay. But due to lack of experience in this field, he closely observed Srimurali's mannerisms over a period of time, and later wrote a new script. The movie was titled Ugramm. Prashanth Neel made an impressive debut with Ugramm in 2014.

The film had a long run and completed 100 days and was re-released in some theatres across Karnataka. It was remade in 2016 in Odia as Agastya, and a famous assassination sequence was reused for 2018 Tamil movie, Sketch. Though the director has announced a sequel of this box office hit, it’s yet to take off. Currently he is working on KGF, and the movie is to be released in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Malayalam languages also.
