Pragathi Yadhati Biography

Pragathi Yadhati is a theatre and film actress from UK of Indian origin. She is very talented, and a multifaceted personality who excels as a poet as well as a playwright. Her family belongs to Hyderabad of Telangana. She is associated with NRI film projects as an actress. In 2010 she made her acting debut through the Hindi film - Iraade Maum Ke, where she essayed the role of Sobhana. After that she appeared in two films – Supercapitalist (English) and Ooops a Desi (Hindi-English bilingual). She played the lead role of Sonia in and Ooops a Desi released in US and India in the year 2013. The film directed by Jenner Jose fared well at box office.

She was born in Anantapur of Andhra Pradesh. Her family hails from Hyderabad. Her father Yadhati Kasipathy is a revolutionary activist, writer and journalist. Following her father’s footsteps Pragathi too started a career in writing. She is a poet and playwright too. Pragathi is formally trained in Bharatnatyam since the age of four. She also learnt Kathak from Pandit Anju babu. She studied acting at The Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute, and got her first role as an actress while studying there. She has worked with a few independent films and earned appreciation as an actress as well. She is New York based.

Apart from doing films, she is also associated with theatre as a stage actress and playwright. Pragathi also studied playwriting from Lyle Kessler, Marsha Sheiness and Lindsey Ferrentino. While at New York she has been associated with several Shakespeare plays. She was the winner at Writer's Collective 24 hour Playwright Marathon (2014) conducted at Times Square Arts Centre. In 2012 she acted in one English film – Supercapitalist. 'The ring around the rose' is her upcoming movie, where she plays the lead role.
