Piyush Mishra Biography

Piyush Mishra from Gwalior is an Indian film and theatre actor, music director, lyricist, singer, scriptwriter. "Arre Ruk Ja Re Bandeh" of Black Friday, "Aaramb Hai Prachand" of Gulaal, "Ik Bagal" of Gangs of Wasseypur - Part 2, and "Husna" of MTV Coke Studio, 2012 are his most noted songs as a lyricist and singer. He has also received positive reviews for his acting skills in Bollywood movies – Maqbool (2003) and Gangs of Wasseypur (2012).

 

Piyush was adapted by his aunt Taradevi Mishra, who had no children. He along with his family thus moved to his aunt’s home. His family was facing financial troubles during this time. Piyush did his schooling at Carmel Convent School, Gwalior. Though his parents put him in a boarding school to excel in academic marks, Piyush was attracted to art subjects like singing, painting and acting. He completed his schooling at Gwalior’s JC Mills Higher Secondary School. Though his aunt took care of him, it developed a rebellious streak in him and he wrote his first poem that reflected his mental agony and oppositions related to this matter. He wrote his first poem, Zinda ho haan tum koi shak nahin while studying in 8th standard. While studying in class 10, he even filed an affidavit in the district court and changed his name to his choice - Piyush Mishra.

 

He became more attached to theatre and later enrolled in NSD. He graduated from National School of Drama in 1986. While studying at NSD, he became a music composer for the first time. He scored music for the student play, Mashreeki Hoor. While doing his second year, he got break as an actor. He played lead role in Hamlet. Piyush Mishra started his career as a theatre actor in Delhi and helped to start theatre group Act One. While studying at NSD, he got chance to play the lead role in Meine pyar kiya. But for some reason, he did not make an effort. His debut movie was Dil se in 1998. Thus he became a part of Bollywood.
