Parvati Melton Biography

Parvati Melton is an Indian American actress and former model. She works mostly for Telugu cinema. In 2007, she acted opposite Mohanlal in super hit Malayalam comedy movie – Hello. Her debut film Vennella was a commercial success and later she worked in several Telugu movies like Game (2006), Allare Allari (2006), Madhumasam (2007), Jalsa (2008), Srimannarayana (2012) and Yamaho Yama (2012). Her item number in the super hit Telugu movie, Dookudu helped her to remain in limelight. She is a trained Bharatanatyam dancer. She has won Filmfare nomination for supporting role.

She was born on January 7, 1983 in California, USA to an Indian mother. Her father, Sham Melton is a German and mother, Darika Preet a Punjabi. Her father though German practices Hinduism and hence gave her the name of goddess Parvati. She has one younger sibling, Ariana Sitara Melton. She graduated from Emeryville High School and attended Vista Community College in Berkeley, California. She took part in several beauty pageants and won a few as well. She won the Miss. Teen India Bay Area pageant in 2004 and the Miss India Le Visage USA pageant in 2005 which gave her direct entry to films. 

She got her first offer while studying at Vista College. The debut movie, Vennella where she was paired opposite Raja was a commercial success. She played the role of an independent woman who aims to pursue higher studies in the USA. It was followed by Malayalam hit, Halo. She got opportunity to work with superstar Mohanlal of Malayalam film industry. Thus she stayed in the industry. Same year (2007) she appeared in a special role in Malayalam film Flash. It was her last appearance for a Malayalam movie.
