Paresh Rawal Biography

Paresh Rawal is a versatile actor of Hindi movies who has proved himself to be a best comedian, villain as well as supporting actor. He debut in 1984 movie Holi in a less significant role and it was Naam of 1986 that established him as an actor. During the early stages of his career he worked as supporting actor and villain till late 90’s. It was Hera pheri of year 2000 that established him as a great comedian of all times. He did the role of comedian Innocent in the original version – Malayalam movie Ramjirao speaking of 1990. Very soon, we saw him as a good comedian in most of his movies and director Priyadarshan was behind this change, who casted Paresh Rawal in Hera Pheri – the actor most proficient in doing negative shades in Bollywood.

Before landing safe as a comedian he has done villain’s roles in many successful movies like Andaz apna apna, Baazi, King Uncle, Ram Lakhan etc. He has proved himself to be a good supporting actor and has won National awards for the movies Sir and Woh Chokri. He has done good performances in the movies Tamanna, Swarg, Hassena maan jayegi, Saathi, Do pal, Gupt, Judai, Chachi 420, Satya, China gate, Bade miya chote miya, Arzoo, Izzat etc.

His career witnessed a sudden rise with the super success of Hera Pheri, that won his first Filmfare for best comedian. Nayak released in the same year was also a big success. He worked with Akshay Kumar again in 2002, for Ankhen. He did the role of a blind beggar in the movie. Akshay Kumar – Paresh Rawel pair owns a good chemistry and it worked well for many comedy and commercially successful movies of Priyadarshan. De dana dan, Garam masala, Awara pagal diwana and Bhool Bhulayya are the fun movies they worked together of which majority of them were directed by Priyadarshan. He did a wonderful role of a policeman in Priyadarshan’s Yeh tera ghar yeh mera ghar in comic style. He repeated the same performance for Priyadarshan’s comedy movies like Hungama, Bhagam bhag, Hulchul, Malamal Lottery, Mere baap pehle aap and Billu. His performance in movies Oh my God, Phir hera pheri, Ready, Aakrosh, Pa, Oh lucky oye oye, Welcome, Cheeni kum, No smoking and Aitraz need special mention. Apart from Hera pheri, he has won best comedian awards for Awara Pagal Deewana.
