Paran Bandopadhyay Biography

Paran Bandopadhyay is a popular actor of Bengali cinema and television. He is a stage actor too, based on Kolkata.Apart from acting he also appears as reality show judge. Mirakkel of Zee Bangla's is one such. Bandopadhyay has acted in more than 35 films and some of his popular roles are Bhooter Bhabishyat, Nobel Chor, The Japanese Wife etc. He has also done several stage plays for the prestigious Indian People’s Theatre Association.

 

He was born on 18 October 1940 and has roots from Bangladesh. Paran’s childhood was not so great. His mother died when he was so young and his father too left him in Jessore. Later he was raised by his aunt. He lived in Dumdum, Kolkata. Since childhood he used to appear in one-act plays in association with local kids. On one such occasion, he as adjusted as ‘Actor of the Evening’ and he earned a medal which was quite a thrilling moment to him.

 

After graduation from City College Kolkata, he got a government job in PWD department. He joined in the year 1962 and served the same department till his retirement in the year 2000 at the age of 60. In between he was associated with plays as an extracurricular activity. By chance he happened to meet Ritwik Ghatak, who offered him a role for Sanko. He also acted in a few plays for Indian People’s Theatre Association. Till his retirement he adjusted him between his passion and job. Once retired in 2000 he got fully active in the entertainment sector. He acted in movies and has appeared in more than 35 Bangla movies in a short span of 10 years.
