Pandi (actor) Biography

Pandi is an Indian actor belonging to Tamil cinema, best known for playing supporting, comic and character roles. Pandi gained recognition through television shows, before moving to big screen. But he had done bit roles on Tamil big screen earlier, mostly uncredited roles. In fact he shot to fame through the popular Tamil soap opera Kana Kaanum Kaalangal in Star Vijay, and the character in the show ‘Pandi’ became his screen name later. Since then he is using Pandi as his screen name for television and movies, and often he is addressed as ‘Black Pandi’. His presence in Jodi Number One season 3 aired on Star Vijay also got noticed. He is also known for his stage shows, comic roles etc.

Initially Pandi earned recognition through TV shows, before he turned active in film industry. He got his first major break through Kana Kaanum Kaalangal in Star Vijay, and he never turned back after that. Though he has been associated with Tamil cinema since year 2000, he rarely got noticed. He was first seen in year 2000 film, Koodi Vazhnthal Kodi Nanmai followed by Nageswari, Singara Chennai, Ghilli, Autograph etc. Pandi is married to Padmini, an MBA graduate since 1 December 2013. They married after seven years of courtship.

After playing minor roles for around 10 years in Tamil cinema as a struggler, he got his first major film role through Angaadi Theru in 2010, where he essayed the role of Marimuthu. He was later seen in Tamil movies such as Pathinaaru, Deiva Thirumagal, Velayutham, Saattai, Vanakkam Chennai, Jilla, Sakalakala Vallavan, Peigal Jaakkirathai, Thozha, Street Lights etc. Most recently he was seen in the Kannada film, Prema Baraha released in 2018.
